Guided Walks

A Unique Experience

Have the chance to enjoy something truly special by walking to the summit of Cairn Gorm and enjoy breathtaking views from the 6th highest mountain in the British Isles.

Due to the conditions of our Visitor Management Plan, only those participating in guided activities can leave the Ptarmigan Top Station after travelling on the Mountain Railway.

This makes the Cairn Gorm Summit Walk a unique outdoor experience and a 'must do' for visitors to the Cairngorms National Park.

The walk is suitable for children aged 6 years and over (if they are capable of walking for 90 minutes) though toddlers are welcome in carriers.

Description

Travel on the Mountain Railway to the Ptarmigan Top Station at a height of 1,097m (3,599 ft) above sea level. From here, you will be guided to the Cairn Gorm summit at a height of 1,245m (4,085 ft). You will hear stories of how the landscape was formed, learning of its vibrant history and the flora and fauna that are an integral part of its eco-system - a truly inspiring experience to see the true heart of the Cairngorms National Park.

Cairn Gorm Summit Walks operate during the summer and autumn months, depending on ground and weather conditions. We can accommodate groups of a minimum of 2 and a maximum 10 people to ensure everyone has a great experience.

Please note, this activity takes place in an exposed mountain environment and is highly weather dependent. It may be cancelled at short notice due to either poor conditions on the day, or due to extreme weather forecasts for safety reasons.
